Toward Castle

The lands were held by the Lamonts from 1200.  The castle began as a keep in the 1400's; a courtyard and range of buildings was added in the 1500's.  In 1646, the Campbells captured and burned the castle.  In 1820, a new mansion, named Castle Toward, was built nearby.  The old castle stands within the grounds.  The painting depicts 2008.
