KISIMUL
KISIMUL |
Dates from: 1030 Kisimul Castle is known as ‘The Rock in the Bay.’ The structure, an impregnable fortress with two artesian wells and a fish trap, dates to 1030. The tower rises to three-stories with a courtyard surrounded by a curtain wall. Kisimul withstood several assaults from rival clans in the 15th and 16th centuries, but it was abandoned by its owners in the 19th century. The castle underwent restoration in the 1930’s. The paintings render Kisimul’s appearance in 1998.

Recurring Dreams A Legend of Kisimul Castle
. . . The Blue Ones, together, hold out their webbed hands and state, "We await your words!" I wipe my brow and take a deep breath: "I have conquered the sea, saved the world, won battles, and served as King, Yet I have never left the place of my creation." "What am I?" I raised my eyebrows and waited. Thankfully the only sound that returned to me was the lapping of the waves. Then they asked, "What is the solution?" "The imagination!" We all had a laugh and with that I was granted passage . . .
Told from the perspective of Connor MacNeil
Kisimul Castle II is included in the Highlands Map.
