Dates from: 1100s The area surrounding Glamis Castle was a hunting ground for the royalty of Scotland. Glamis began as a keep in the 14th century and was altered in 1500.William Shakespeare visited in 1599, and thereafter the castle’s name was forever linked with Macbeth. Glamis underwent further expansion from the 17th to the 19th century. The painting depicts its appearance in 2006.
