Dunvegan Castle
SCOTLAND

From 1270, Dunvegan Castle served as the ancestral home of Clan Macleod.  They added a keep in the 14^th century and constructed additional towers in the 16^th century.  Between 1840 and 1850, the structure was expanded and the original ornamentation removed.  During 1938-40, the castle was remodeled again.  The painting draws on photos of Dunvegan from 1998.

A Legend of Dunvegan Castle

. . .  On his way to watch nature's revelation, he often traveled the path to the shore.  Many times he stopped and looked into the caves darkness where he caught glimpses of a beautiful iridescent light.  Through a green mist, there appeared a vision of a young fairy woman . . .
