DUNURE |
Dates from: 1200s Dunure Castle originated as a keep in the 13th century, which was expanded and fortified in the 15th and 16th centuries. By 1696 it was in ruin. The castle was the ancestral home of the Kennedy’s of Carrick, who ruled over much of southwestern Scotland. The painting draws on a 2008 view. Pictured Dunure Castle 10" x 20" oil

Webs of Betrayal A Legend of Dunure Castle
. . . The Hall, dark and cold, mirrors his own heart; the castle servants try to steer clear of both. Most people, in fact, got to great lengths to avoid this lord, otherwise known as Gilbert Kennedy. Critical and manipulative, subject to fits of rage, he is the worst of company. Any charm his character once possessed has long since been displaced by madness. . . .
Dunure Castle is included in the Lowlands Map.
