DUNSKEY
DUNSKEY |
Dates from: 1484 Dunskey Castle is perched on an outcrop overlooking the Irish Sea. An older castle on the site burned in 1489. What is a ruin today began in 1510. Additions and alterations ensued for the remainder of that century, but the castle was derelict by 1684. The painting depicts its 2008 appearance.

An excerpt from the book Scotland: Castles and Clans the Legends.
Watchful Eyes A Legend of Dunskey Castle
. . . From the castle, I view a group of trees that appear to move with unnatural shadows. It is not the branches swaying in the wind but something beyond; and there are times when I hear my own name in a whisper --"Allison." Upon closer inspection, the woods reveal nothing to my eyes and ears. Whoever or whatever it is that lives in those trees . . .
Told from the perspective of Allison Shaw
Dunskey Castle is included in the Lowlands Map.
